Good morning everyone and happy Monday! With spring being sprung and all the news on COVID-19 lately, we wanted to give you an update of what’s going on with us here at the Vicksburg District Library.
There has been a lot going on with libraries in the area and their status. Kalamazoo Public Library recently announced that they were closing their doors to the public and only offering curbside services for the foreseeable future due to the uptick of COVID-19 cases in Kalamazoo county and the state of Michigan. Portage District Library is currently closed due to their move into a temporary location as their library begins a major renovation project that is scheduled to be completed sometime next year.
So what’s the status of the Vicksburg District Library?
As of this publishing, the Vicksburg District Library is open to the public at a limited capacity of 25%. Patrons are more than welcome to come in to browse the stacks and check out books, use computers, and fax and copy documents without an appointment. We are strictly enforcing the proper use of face masks as ordered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and highly recommend that anyone who cannot tolerate the use of face masks at this time call us ahead of their visit so that we can make accommodations for this. This will more than likely be in the form of a curbside appointment. Those who wish to book a curbside appointment for safety are also more than welcome to do so. Simply give us a call during regular library hours at (269) 649-1648 and we will get you on the schedule.
Should anything change in our status, it will be posted to the home page of our website and on our social media sites on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
For those from the Kalamazoo Public Library and the Portage District Library who are looking for in person service, we do offer free reciprocal cards with our library. Please bring in your card from your home library and your driver’s license/state ID. We can then register you for a free Vicksburg District Library card. Please keep in mind, however, that MeL/InterLibrary Loan services cannot be completed with us and you must apply for that service through your home library.
Also, tax forms are still available as the tax deadline has been pushed back to May 17th. We have a limited selection of the following available:
- Michigan 1040 forms
- Michigan 1040 booklets
- Michigan 1040CR-7 booklets
- Federal 1040 & 1040-SR forms
- Federal 1040 & 1040-SR booklets
- Federal 1040 & 1040-SR forms (Spanish)
- Federal 1040 & 1040-SR booklets (Spanish)
Any forms we do not have can be printed at $0.10 per page, per side.
Lastly, believe it or not, we are getting ready to move into our summer hours! Starting the weekend of Memorial Day, the Vicksburg District Library will be closed on Sundays. This goes into effect on Sunday, May 30th. We will also be closed on Monday, May 31st for Memorial Day.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns about any of the above, please feel free to contact us! We are here to answer any inquiries you have. We hope you all still continue to stay safe and be healthy as we move into the summer season!
