Ways to Help

Want to help the library be better for you and everyone in the Vicksburg area? There are a few different ways you can help us!

Recommend Materials to Purchase

One of the ways we decide what to buy for our collections is by your personal suggestions. These materials range from books to video games. Have a suggestion for us? You can do one of two things. You can come to the library and fill out a Material Request form at the Circulation Desk. Can’t make it to the library in person? Then just fill out THIS FORM. Please be prepared to give the following information in the form.

  • title of the item
  • author of the item
  • item type (book, DVD, CD, audio book, video game, etc.)
  • subject matter of the item
  • your name and phone number

Volunteer

We are always accepting applications for volunteers at the library! Volunteers help keep our library operating smoothly by tidying shelves, lending a hand with ongoing projects, helping with daily tasks, and so much more. Volunteering at the library is a great first position for a high school student, a fantastic way for a senior to stay active, or for someone anywhere in between. To fill out an application, come to the Circulation Desk and let us know you are interested.

Material Donations

The Vicksburg District Library is always collecting donations for our annual book sale. Bring your donations to the Circulation Desk and we will take care of the rest. Sorry, but we are unable to pick up materials. There are a few guidelines for what can and cannot be donated:

We will happily take the following materials if they are in acceptable condition:

  • Adult fiction books
  • Adult non-fiction books
  • Audiobooks
  • Young adult and teen books
  • Children’s books
  • CDs
  • DVDs

We CANNOT accept:

  • Encyclopedias
  • Text books
  • Periodicals and magazines
  • Any old, moldy, or damaged items.

If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to contact us and we’ll be happy to help!
