Happy summer Monday once again! It’s looking a little rainy out today, but we should be in for some typical Michigan July weather otherwise the rest of the week. For those who celebrated Christmas in July this last week, we hope you had a good time, but don’t celebrate too much. As we all know, winter has a way of lingering in west Michigan and it’ll be here soon enough, right? For now, let’s see what’s up at the library!
Mask Mandate
As part of Executive Order 2020-147, Vicksburg District Library is strongly adhering to the use of face masks/coverings and social distancing at this time. Please wear one when you enter the library. If you are unable to do so for any reason, please call us during our normal business hours at (269) 649-1648 or email us at info@vicksburglibrary.org so we can make accommodations to serve you as safely and efficiently as possible. Those who do not adhere to these requests may be asked to leave the library. Please contact us if you have any questions about this issue.
We’re Hiring!
The Vicksburg District Library is currently seeking applications for a Library Page. This 6 hour per week position is great for teens looking to start their first job or anyone wishing to enter into the library field. Applicants must be 16 years of age or older and understand the Dewey Decimal System. A Page may be asked to move 20 pounds at a time. Other tasks may be assigned as needed. All those interested, please visit the Circulation Desk at the library and fill out an application or download one here! We will be in contact if you are chosen for an interview.
This Week
Did you know that the Vicksburg District Library is launching a new literary social experiment? Come check out what we are calling the One Man Book Club. How does it work? When you check out a book from the Vicksburg District Library, pick up one of our surveys. When you are finished reading the book, fill out the survey about the book. When you return the book, turn in the survey. What we then do is compile your comments anonymously into the One Man Book Club binder. Then the next time you or someone is wondering what to read, you can see what other patrons had to say in the One Man Book Club. Sounds like fun, right? Come check out our current display and pick up a survey or two today!
Believe it or not, the Summer Reading Program is wrapping up this week. All forms and submissions are due online on Friday, July 31st! Be sure to turn in all information and choose your desired book by that time for Mrs. W as she will be ordering books next week. Don’t be late and we hope you had a fun time with the program this year!
Tonight, Adrianne the Librarian will be on Facebook Live at 6:00pm for another edition of Books & Brews! Today’s topic will be Beach Reads. What exactly are beach reads and what are some great ones we can recommend for this year? But first, she will share a fun recipe that will go read with that summer book and you can share with friends…Pink Champagne Sangria with grapefruit and pomegranate! Tune in on Facebook to check out the fun!
